Club History
With 100 years of history and heritage to our name, there isn’t much we don’t know about all disciplines of cycling – including traditional touring, gravel riding, day rides and racing. Our roots are firmly set in touring with club members having explored in over 60 countries at the last count. Needless to say, we know the local lanes of Lancashire & Yorkshire like the back of our hands – so our weekly Sunday touring rides will take you from your doorstep to places that you never knew existed.
But that’s not all we offer. We have had great success in our racing section with five National Hill Climb Championships since 1999 and numerous time trial victories at county and national level.
Cycling in the UK is on a high – and we have all learned to appreciate the mental and physical benefits of cycling even more over recent tough times. If this has inspired you to take up or restart cycling then contact us to discover a world of fun, freedom and adventure. Riding in a group is easier and more fun than riding on your own so come and give it a month’s free trial and see where Blackburn & District CTC will take you!
Past Club Magazines & Historical Photos
We are currently in the process of digitizing all the past club magazines, the first dating from the early 1980's. Altogether, 111 editions of the magazines have been printed not including the Centenary one currently been printed. Please find a brief selection below - more will be coming soon! We have also digitalised a number of historical club photos, which really illustrate the adventurous nature of our club runs and tours. Do you know someone in these photos? Take some time for a peep!
